![]() ![]() ![]() So if Etihad has no fare between Richmond and the Maldives, then you’re going to be looking at two award tickets - say, Richmond to Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi to the Maldives, costing an extra 25,000 miles for one-way business class from Abu Dhabi to the Maldives or 25,000 miles for first class Richmond to your US departure gateway. And you have to follow their routing rules for any connections. Specifically, the primary overwater carrier has to publish a routing between your starting and ending cities in order to fly between those two cities on a single award. Published routing: You have to fly a ‘published routing’ in order to book an award. This restriction means no more ‘free one-way awards’ using American miles. You can transit a city for 23 hours and 59 minutes and that’s just a connection (go explore a city for no extra miles) but once you hit 24 hours that would be a stopover and an extra award. When you’re putting together an international award, the 24 hour rule applies even to your domestic connecting segments. Anything over 4 hours on a purely domestic award, and (what’s relevant for this purpose) anything 24 hours or longer on an international award would constitute a stopover and require a separate award. For other regions of the world, say you’re originating in Europe and want an award to the Middle East or India, you select Europe as the region whose chart you want to look at. This is the chart for flights starting from North America (the prices are the same if you are going to North America). How to Book American AAdvantage Awards: One-Way Partner Awardsīut they now have a separate chart for each region of the world. This will show you the rules, tips, and tricks to make the most of your American miles for international award tickets on American’s own flights and on their airline partners. So what I know about these awards comes from hundreds of award bookings I’ve made, discussions with others, and of course checking against the knowledge that’s been published by a definitive source online in the form of unpublished rules shared over at. I’ve written guides on this in the past, but since those rules have recently had some minor tweaks (and there have been a handful of such tweaks since the last time I updated the guide) it makes sense to walk through them again.Īs I said, American doesn’t publish this information anyway. What I don’t like is that American has the most complex routing rules of any frequent flyer program and they do not publish those rules publicly at all so members are often left scratching their heads as to why an award costs a certain price. ![]() In contrast, Delta adds fuel surcharges onto awards that originate in Europe or that are on certain partners (like China Southern and China Eastern) and United does not add fuel surcharges onto award tickets at all. This makes the cost of transatlantic awards expensive in cash, since BA is their largest partner across the Atlantic. ![]() They also only add significant fuel surcharges onto British Airways awards (and modest fuel surcharges onto Iberia awards). The mileage price for most destinations, in business and especially first class, is quite good. I really like American AAdvantage’s award chart for premium cabin redemptions. You’ll typically have a wedding cake tasting after you’ve booked your baker, where you’ll select your cake’s flavors. We all know that a celebration simply isn't complete without cake. Whether this is because of the endless variety of breathtaking decorations, the symbolic gesture of a new couple sharing this treasured sweetness with their loved ones, or because 90 percent of all couples swear they are not going to smear it all over their new spouse (and yet 75 percent of them still do!), or some combination of all these things – wedding cakes are one of the finest, most dazzling, yummiest type of dessert ever! Of all of the time-honored wedding traditions, eating wedding cake is one of our favorites. Now, we know what you're thinking – when can we sample some wedding cake? When you've finished some basic research, join the conversation on our wedding forums with other engaged couples and newlyweds to get more ideas or hear first-hand what did and did not work on their wedding days. When you've narrowed your options down to two or three professional wedding cake bakeries, it's time to set tasting appointments. When you schedule, don’t forget to ask whether there is a tasting session fee, so this doesn’t catch you off-guard during your appointment. When the day of the tasting(s) arrives, here are a few suggestions for what to discuss with your baker to make sure they’re able to create your dream wedding cake. First of all, ask to see photos of past creations. This should give you a good idea of their creative talents. Then, try tasting a variety of different flavors. Often, you can arrange to have each layer be a different type of cake. You can even inquire as to whether they offer vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free flavors. This is important for guests with food restrictions or allergies. You’ll also want to find out if they coordinate with wedding venues and wedding florists for cake delivery and set-up – this will save you some trouble if they can connect directly with each other. If you and your fiancé(e) aren't fans of wedding cake, that's fine, too. You can always opt to go with a smaller cake and/or offer alternative dessert options. This made it a popular choice for web designers, as pages specifying Georgia as a font choice would display identically on both types if users installed the core fonts package (or later Internet Explorer), simplifying development and testing. Microsoft publicly released the initial version of the font on 1 November 1996 as part of the core fonts for the Web collection, and later bundled it with the Internet Explorer 4.0 supplemental font pack: these releases made it available for installation on both Windows and Macintosh computers. According to Thomas Curson Hansard, these were cut by London-based punchcutter Richard Austin. Georgia is a "Scotch Roman", a style that originated in types sold by Scottish type foundries of Alexander Wilson and William Miller in the period of 1810–1820. The New York Times changed its standard font from Times New Roman to Georgia in 2007. The Georgia typeface is similar to Times New Roman, another reimagination of transitional serif designs, but as a design for screen display it has a larger x-height and fewer fine details. That is a bigger jump in weight than is conventional in print series." Given these unusual design decisions, Matthew Butterick, an expert on document design, recommended that organizations using Georgia for onscreen display license Miller to achieve a complementary, more balanced reading experience on paper. The bold versions of Verdana and Georgia are bolder than most bolds, because on the screen, at the time we were doing this in the mid-1990s, if the stem wanted to be thicker than one pixel, it could only go to two pixels. were all about binary bitmaps: every pixel was on or off, black or white. Georgia's bold is also unusually bold, almost black. Its reduced contrast and thickened serifs make it somewhat resemble Clarendon designs from the 19th century. It features a large x-height (tall lower-case letters), and its thin strokes are thicker than would be common on a typeface designed for display use or the greater sharpness possible in print. Georgia was designed for clarity on a computer monitor even at small sizes. and then they disappeared completely." Its figure (numeral) designs are lower-case, or text figures, designed to blend into continuous text this was at the time a rare feature in computer fonts. Speaking in 2013 about the development of Georgia and Miller, Carter said: "I was familiar with Scotch Romans, puzzled by the fact that they were once so popular. The typeface's name referred to a tabloid headline, "Alien heads found in Georgia." Design Īs a transitional serif design, Georgia shows a number of traditional features of "rational" serif typefaces from around the early 19th century, such as alternating thick and thin strokes, ball terminals and a vertical axis. All sedans came standard with the vinyl roof and landau bars, resulting in the model’s official name of “Landau Sedan”. The Thunderbird’s traditional convertible model was concurrently dropped with the introduction of the sedan. In a further nod to Ford’s upmarket ambitions, rear hinged “suicide doors,” similar to those on the Lincoln Continental, prominently featured. The most radical change for 1967 however, was that for the first time, the Thunderbird was available as a four-door sedan. These included hidden headlights, curved lines, convex body sides, a “formal” roof line with landau roof, tufted seats, and vast amounts of interior wood grain trim. Switching to body-on-frame construction, it was larger, more comfortable, and more luxurious than prior versions.įrom a styling standpoint, these ’67s introduced many features that would become increasingly popular during both the “Great Brougham Epoch” and the late ’60s/early ’70s in general.
